Water Tips for the Fall Season
Most over-watering occurs during the fall. Shallow roots will
result if fall watering is not decreased. Rain worsens the problem
by adding more water to already wet soil. By giving plants only the
water they need, you can reduce root rot, reduce water bills and
reduce water runoff.
Please remember to inspect your irrigation system for excess run off into the street. Be sure to adjust your sprinklers to ensure maximum coverage for your lawn and plants, minimizing overflow into sidewalks, driveways and into storm drains.
Another way to conserve is by watering in the early morning. During the cooler morning hours, less evaporation takes place, and there is less wind to scatter the droplets onto sidewalks and driveways where water is wasted.
